Summer celebrations are hot right now in Miraland, reaching a crescendo with the surprising but long-awaited Story Suit Event, "Caelum et Ocean." Many players have been eyeing the suits and calculating the costs of its SEA server alias "Summer Foam Ocean Song" for some time in anticipation of its arrival on LN. It's no wonder; "Caelum et Ocean" was the first Story Suit Event ever to hit the "Miracle Nikki" CN server. With summer being the perfect time for seagulls, mermaids, and dogs with froggy friends, LN Devs finally released these classic sets. Though the event itself was met with mixed feelings from LN players, POPNikki's Contributor Sophie is here to share her thoughts on her own sky-and-sea experience. Let's see how she did!

First Impressions
So, this is definitely not my first run at this sort of event, having played this game for over a year now. I know this type is dia-heavy, which usually means I never “finish” the event (like with most events) due to lack of diamonds.
At first glance, I was more content to gain the minor suits than the “major” ones; the minor suits drew my attention more. My first thought was that I was perfectly content with not finishing this one. (Plus I could actually save dias this time— or at least try to…) Sure, the suits are pretty, but then again I’m easily impressed, so my judgement isn’t the best on that one. (I do generally go “ooh pretty suit” with each suit announced, so it takes me a little longer to go “oh, I don’t actually need that suit”.)
I did like the story behind the event — essentially star-crossed lovers. Simple stories (for events anyway) are the best stories in my opinion, as they aren’t too complicated and so you’re not trying to figure out what’s going on with the new characters.
How did I do?
I got up to the third node, which is a little further than I expected. I know that when this event swings around again, it’ll be more of a pain to get to the fourth node, but eh. Most of my progress was made on days 1 and 2, with day 3 onwards just being me trying to get as far as possible before I have to wait a year for the event to come back round. I got Rippling Silk, Shiba and Croak, and Winged Journey. Of the three, honestly Shiba and Croak is my favourite overall. I love the suit colours, and the story behind the suit is really sweet. (Plus we could always use more rain-related items.)
For recharge suits, I got Bouquet Bike and Jewel of Ocean, which I’m happy with. I find it’s the simpler suits I can work with more easily, so while I have problems with suits like Dark Poem, I don’t see myself having these issues here. Even with Winged Journey, there are definitely some things I can style using the pieces, even if they are mostly posed.
Post-mortem
I’m pretty happy with the results. Sure, I didn’t get the suit I wanted (Crimson Creek), but Shiba and Croak more than makes up for that. I got a lot of pieces I can work with for Starry Corridor and just general styling. And who knows, maybe some of the pieces I have now might come in handy for later stages. I’ll definitely be saving my dias for something bigger than this (if I’m interested in the event, that is).
Considering that this was apparently one of the first events on the original CN server, it isn’t that bad of an event. I love seeing how the suits have developed over the years (even if it isn’t that obvious to me), so this event was nice. It might not be the most dramatic or most elaborate, but it works well as an event.
What did you think of the event? Were you able to get one of the suits you wanted?
